So, today is election day and its going to go to Obama. So congratulations to him but in the extreme off chance that it doesn't I'll still be happy. The reason is that the worst president in the history of the United States will finally be gone. Yes i know that it will be a few more months until he is officially gone but today feels like the day that the guillotine will drop onto the neck of this horrid administration.
Now there are many fuck ups that can be attributed to the Bush administration but one that especially angers me is the way that they have treated the education system. The United States spends more per capita on education than any other country in the world and yet we have one of the worst education systems in the western world. Why is that? Some would say that the Bush administration is incompetent or that they frankly don't care due to the exorbant amounts of money being made off of the war.
The scary truth is that the government is getting exactly what is ordered. The republican party leaders do better when their base is less educated. The dumber you are the more they love you. Ever since Harvey Atwater helped Reagan and Bush senior develop the strategies of attacking the character of the opposing candidate, the republican base has shifted to the most ignorant people in America (Don't believe me? Look here). Any well informed populace would recognize that the issues raised by these tactics have no merit and should be ignored. A well informed populace would have never been tricked into the war that we are currently unable to escape.
So its no surprise that the Bush administration would have interest in creating an ignorant populace or at the very least a mis-informed populace. Whether or not you believe that Fox News is biased or not you cannot deny in any way that it is only interested in misleading and misinforming the population as seen here).
This is why you cannot trust your schools or the mainstream media to educate you on what is really happening in our world. All the major media outlets are publicly owned and operated by a handful of elite individuals. Their alliegance is to the share holders not to the American public. Their interests lie in the profitibility of their company not in the responsilibty of journalism.
I hope that a new administration will take it upon themselves to change these failing systems for the better. This among other reasons is why I'm so excited to see someone who is interested in the welfare of the American populace enter the white house for a change.

Since my life isn't all that interesting at the moment I think I'll stick to writing commentaries on articles that I read. That way I don't have to be nearly as creative, it lends to my naturally lazy character. So anyway, I was reading this article, and I felt compelled to put my two cents in.
For a long time I've been of the opinion that men should not be allowed to vote on the issue of abortion. I felt that it is ultimately a woman's decision and that a man doesn't have to carry the physical or emotional burden of child bearing and child birth. As a side note, I hate it when a man says "We're pregnant!" as if he is actually doing half of the work. Yeah right, he stopped working hard at the exact moment he pulled his limp noodle out of her. If you don't believe me consider this scenario. A guy gets plastered and knocks up some chic at a party but she doesn't tell him about it. Five months later will he be looking in the mirror and saying to himself "OMG i think I'm pregnant!"?
No. He wont be doing that. But she will. Unless of course she gets an abortion. Which brings us full circle to our topic of conversation.
Recently I have begun to alter my views on whether men should be included in the legal process as it pertains to the women's right to choose. The reason being that recently in the news there have been stories of girls getting pregnant at a young age on purpose. They will fuck some boy and lie to him about being on birth control with the intention of getting pregnant. Under current law a man is responsible for the child whether he was intentionally trying to have one or not. A woman has the choice to abort a baby she doesn't want but a man does not. I can understand that when they were writing the legislation they probably never thought that a woman would intentionally have a child without informing the father and then expect support after the birth.
I think that the legislation should be amended to protect unwilling fathers in some way. Both parents are equally responsible for the pregnancy so there should be some equality when it comes to the decision of keeping the child or not. Remember no taxation without representation? Well its kinda like that. It definitely wouldn't be easy but I would like some protection from some crazy bitch trying to get herself pregnant using my sperm and then taking me to court afterwards as if I was the problem all along.

How is pornography "unholy"?
So I was passing the time reading articles at NPR.com and I came across this article.
If you dont feel like reading it, then your lazy because its really not that long, its about a church that bought some land that used to be an old drive in movie theater and the irony was that the lot apparently came with loads of smut. Now these pornos were from the 70's and 80's when whisker biscuits rained supreme, so there really isnt much re-sale value. So, in a very public manner the church decided to burn the films. They could have recycled them properly and accomplished the same thing but for a congregation of 300 there really is nothing quite like the free publicity you get from the fumes of 40 year old wanker-tape. I'm not even going to mention the pollution.
Anywho, a quote included in the article went like this, "The ceremony was a symbolic measure for the congregation, 'a sign of moving from that past and taking the land from unholy to holy."
So there explanation was that the property was unholy and that now through the symbolic act of burning tape of people having sex, the site is now holy.

The image that I keep coming up with is a couple of Deccan's walking around the site with a couple of HHHM's (hand-held-holy-meter) checking to see whether the site is clean enough for their righteous asses. Its not quite unlike Ghostbusters; demons, ghosts, theres not much difference there. I could go on for awhile about the sheer ignorance of it all but I'd rather comment on this notion that pornography is somehow unholy.
Lets take a look at some numbers shall we?
According to wikipedia (if you want to verify the source go right ahead) in 2001 %79.8 of the American population identified as christian in one form or another. In 2001, 705 million adult films were sold, this number includes DVD and VHS sales. It doesn't even include the amount of pornography that was sold in other forms, including magazines, novels, and all the crazy shit on the internet.
What was the U.S. population in 2001? Approximately 281,421,906. You don't have to be a genius to see that statistically every person in America bought 2 pornos that year.
Does anybody else notice something weird going on? Unless all the Jews and Atheists are as horny as they are rich or the major consumers of pornographic material are Christian. Yes they probably go to church, they most likely believe in God and the Devil. They may even believe that the entire universe was made in 6 days and the Earth is only 6,000 years old. In any case, a whole lot of them are buying porno and getting their spank on.
Thus we come to my point. That these publicity stunts are shameful and sad. Its obvious that the church is whoring itself to the pretentious, conservative right who preach fire and brimstone to anyone who works in the porn industry, and anyone who purchases pornography at the exact same time they are beating off to Asian girls using each other as human toilets (DISCLAIMER: I didn't make that up. There is an entire genre of pornography that lends itself to the excretory art, and people buy it and get off on it. This is the world we live in people.)
Now I'm obviously exaggerating greatly, but there really isn't any other reasonable explanation. As a whole, we are a country of hypocrites. We are willing to condemn and ridicule people, while at the same time funding them underneath the table for the services that we desperately require. The same goes with illegal immigrants, we are so quick to chastise immigrants to our country, and yet we rely on their labor to run some of the largest agricultural markets in the country.
All I ask for is for a little consistency. If we are going to do one thing and say another then we should admit to being hypocrites, theres more dignity in it. Or we should stop casting stones and embrace the fact that people like pornography and that its not a bad thing. Or if people really believe that pornography is a bad thing then they should spend equal time persecuting people that create the demand for pornography; the consumers of the product.
Here's a great example of the exploitation of a person in the adult industry. Miss Tyra is simultaneously belittling Sasha Grey and benefiting from her appearance on her show. Tyra is exploiting Shasha's image and story and instead of compensating her for it, she ridicules her for it and preaches to Sasha as if she is so much better than her. Sasha is allowed a chance to defend herself in a video blog here. I watched this entire episode and at no time does Tyra make a comment on the people who are buying and creating the demand for pornography. Its as if no one thinks it matters at all that there is actually a demand for these products.
Ok, well i could go on forever about this because it pisses me off to no end. If you know anything about me you know that I hate it people that don't take responsibility for their actions and their words.

Take a long look at that map. I drove that twice this weekend. Once to Tallahassee and once again back. I'm not complaining by any means because my weekend was more than worth the drive, I just like to stare at it and appreciate the distance. Imagine if it was 1800 and i had to oregon trail it to Tally. That would fuckin suck. I would probably die of dysentery somewhere outside of Gainsville. :P
So I found out today that I missed a quiz for my History class that i was supposed to take over the weekend. Fortunatly, the lowest quiz grade of the semester will be dropped and it doesn't get much lower than zero. I'll just have to not be an idiot for the rest of the semester.

Ok so I know that a lot of people don't give merit to polls but, come on! Look at this. Its not even fair. Obama is leading by double. Why is everyone still pretending that this is going to be close? People are finally realizing how full of shit the GOP really is. Anyway, I'm really happy about this. I completely lost faith in the American people after the 2004 election but now i think that there is hope. Perhaps this economic catastrophe wont set us back 100 years. Its a long shot but I think that with the right leader we are truly capable of anything.
Its rather coincidental that as i was writing this my new boss walked by and asked what i was reading. I mostly read and go on the internet at work because its so slow. I told him that it was World History specifically Mayan and Aztec. We chatted about that and then he randomly changed the subject to the American Civil War. "It was about the blacks," he said with a smile. "Yes it was mostly about slavery," I responded. "And now they want to put one in the white house."
I already promised myself that i wouldn't fuck this job up because who knows when i will be able to get another one. But no one said it was going to be easy. I have no tolerance for racism but i have to be a different person in this place. Thats one of the reasons i feel that i will not be able to work for someone else for the rest of my life. I want to have my own business one day so that i can dictate how things are done and not have to deal with bullshit. Im not as angry as I sound but you have to admit that it is frustrating.

So, I finaly got a job. I was honestly beginning to lose hope for a while. I must have applied to atleast 30 different jobs. That may not seem like a lot but the new trend among retailers is to have application processes that take 30 min each. So not only is it a time consuming process but its also an emotionally draining process. Everytime that you apply to another job you can help but think that your waisting your time and energy and that no one is even going to look at your application let alone consider you for a position. After all that it turns out that i get a job my walking into a place and handing my resume to the owner. I wouldnt say that all of my other efforts were in vain, but they kinda were since no one has called me about any of my other applications.
I dont think its completly my fault, the way the economy is right now is having an unprecidented effect on the job market. One would think that entry level positions for large corperations wouldnt be so drastically effected by the credit crysis, but i guess it is.
Something that has been bugging me about the recent events concerning the bail out plan passed by congress last week is how adament republicans are about having it passed quickly. Ive always felt that the republican party as a whole is hypocritical but this really puts the nail in the coffin. The republican party is supposed to be the poster child for less government interferance in the free market as well as the fiscally conservative group that squashes liberal overspending. Except it seems that when the republicans are at risk of losing support from their corperatre fuck-buddies as well as their own investments, they go ape-shit for a federal deus ex machina to come down and save all their asses. I have no problem with wanting to make sure that your financial interests are secure, nobody wants to be on the street, but they should take responsibility for what they are doing and admit that theyre economic policy is what caused the problem in the first place and now they are trying to fix the problem by throwing money at it and adopting the principles of their opposing party.

Does anybody else resent the fact that Palin is even a nominee for the vice presidential position? The primary duty of the vice president is to take over the office if the president is incapacitated in any way. How in the hell is this woman qualified to fulfill that obligation? Is she an intelligent person? Well compared to the majority of the republican party, yes but thats only because you have to include the rednecks of the bible belt. Sitting at the front of the short bus doesnt make you smart. We need more than a cute face in the white house. It really is like a bad Disney movie. Or like that Robin Williams movie Man of the Year, except in this case its a woman and we laugh at her but not because shes a comedian.

So last night I had the most unsettling dream. I think that if you have a dream and then wake up feeling guilty about it, then it was probably a pretty bad dream. I dont want to go into too much detail but it involved being a serial dog murderer, as in I killed dogs for no reason.This is quite unsettling unto itself as well as unusual due to the fact that I like dogs.
On a side note I havn't really been updating a lot recently because of my increasing involvment with Greenpeace and the Hotseat campaign for global warming. I recently accepted the position of Web Outreach Coordinator. Very fancy I know. Its not a paid position but I feel what I am doing is important and I'm enjoying it which is all I can really ask for.
I also have an interview with Compusa lined up for tomorrow. I am really excited about this because I hate my job at FedexKinkos more and more everyday. All of the stupid corporate bullshit that happened at hollywood video is hapening all over again at Fedex. By the way we are no longer FedexKinkos, the company is spending 9 million dollars to change our name to FedexOffice. This isn't really surprising considering that digital media is becoming cheaper than print media and maintaining Kinko's is becoming a burden for Fedex. Whatever. I dont care I just want out and Im gunna get it. So I'll make sure to let everyone know how it goes.
I really think that I would enjoy a job at CompUsa considering my slight obsession with all things electronic.
I cheated death once again today. Riding a motorcycle will always bring with it a certain risk and I have accepted that risk and continue to ride with the dangers in mind. However, no matter how careful or skilled a rider you are there is always the uncertain element of other drivers, road conditions, debris, weather, wind, slick roads, blind corners, pedestrians, and anything bigger than a mouse or frog crossing the road.
I was on my way back from the bank today and I passed an accident that had occurred moments before. A car apparently lost control and crashed into a concrete sign on the side of the road. I am not sure if any other vehicles were involved. All I know is that on my way to the bank that car wasn't there and on my way back it was. That crash had occurred mere moments after I had passed that point in the road and if I had left my house one minute later than I had that SUV could have crashed into me instead of the concrete wall.
Motorcycle related crashes and deaths have doubled since the late nineties. While there are reckless motorcycle drivers out there, not all incidents are caused by the rider.

Ultimate Destiny
So here is my first attempt at a blog. I cant promise that it will be insightful or interesting but i will do my best to make it entertaining.
In random awesomeness, I recently became a proud owner of an Alienware System. For anybody not as nerdy as me just realize that its awesome and you should want one. I'm just kidding its really a glorified action figure with neon glowing alien heads on the sides and the front (pretty sweet right?)
For anyone wondering what i have been doing with my life recently considering that I have dropped out of the HC (http://www.fau.edu/jupiter/) I have been teaching myself AutoCad with a concentration on architecture. Here is a drawing that i did. I realize that it is not that impressive but just ask yourself, would you want to live there? Yes, yes you would. Dont lie.
Ok well thats enough for now but I will make sure to put myself in incomprehensible danger so I will have some material for the next post.
